Abstract

Distress psikologis merupakan masalah kesehatan mental yang umum dialami oleh anak perempuan dewasa terutama ketika terjadi masalah terkait relasi dengan ibunya. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi keluarga dan empati memiliki peran penting dalam memengaruhi tingkat distress psikologis pada anak perempuan dewasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran penting empati sebagai penghubung krusial dalam dinamika yang melibatkan komunikasi keluarga dan distress psikologis pada anak perempuan dewasa, terutama dalam konteks relasi mereka dengan ibu. Sebanyak 202 individu terlibat dalam proses penelitian ini. Pengukuran aspek-aspek yang relevan dilakukan dengan menggunakan Skala Komunikasi Keluarga (FCS) untuk menilai tingkat kepuasan komunikasi dalam keluarga, Skala Empati Dasar (BES) untuk mengukur tingkat empati, dan Kuesioner Kesehatan Umum-12 (GHQ-12) versi Indonesia untuk menilai gejala distress psikologis yang dirasakan oleh partisipan. Hasil dari analisis regresi linier mengindikasikan bahwa komunikasi keluarga memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam memprediksi tekanan psikologis (c = -0.5592, p < 0.000). Selain itu, temuan utama mendapati pengaruh tidak langsung dari variabel komunikasi keluarga pada distress psikologis melalui empati sebagai mediator. Dari analisis ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa empati memainkan peran penting dalam memediasi hubungan antara komunikasi dalam keluarga dengan tingkat distress psikologis yang dialami. Temuan ini mendorong kesimpulan bahwa tingkat kepuasan terhadap komunikasi dalam keluarga terutama dengan ibu, dapat menjadi kunci bagi tingkat empati pada anak perempuan dewasa. Dengan demikian, individu dapat memperoleh keterampilan yang diperlukan untuk mengelola stresor sehari-hari dengan lebih efektif. Penelitian ini mendukung pengembangan intervensi komunikasi empatik pada konteks ibu dan anak perempuan dewasa untuk mengatasi tekanan psikologis yang dirasakan anak perempuan dewasa.
